Class Descriptions

Ballet: These classes teach the art of classical ballet to students. They provide the student with strength, flexibility, and control, as well as coordination, musicality, and poise.

Beginning “Feets!”: Ages 6 months & Up (Parent/Child)
Laughing, Loving, Learning the arts together! This social, stimulating, bonding, shared experience allows you to interact with your child in a focused way, building important developmental skills such as gross and fine motor coordination, vocabulary building, shape and color recognition, counting skills and a love for creativity. You will be treated to a session focused curriculum with a wide variety of games, music and movement activities. Classes are 30 minutes in length. No dress code is required for this class.

Combination Classes (pre-ballet/tap, pre-ballet/jazz): Our combination classes are offered to introduce multiple styles of dance. These classes are used to introduce the discipline of dance with fun, age-appropriate activities.

Contemporary: Like the contemporary styles seen on "So You Think You Can Dance," this class focuses on a newer styles of jazz dance, which incorporates jazz technique with undertones of modern and a strong classical ballet base. This class is primarily movement oriented to familiarize everyone with the style of the work and ends with a center contemporary jazz combination.

Hip Hop: Also known as street dance, these classes will teach the latest dance moves as seen on music videos. A great form of exercise that is fun and exciting!

Jazz: Combining classical jazz technique and a more contemporary jazz style, the students will gain strength, technique, and will have fun learning turns, leaps, and stylized combinations.

Lyrical: This styles derives from classical jazz technique with an emphasis on balance, flexibility, and control utilizing the mood and lyrics to music. It is encouraged for the student to simulatenously enroll in ballet and jazz.

Pre-Ballet I : An introduction to dance in a fun, loving, structured setting. Students will learn a combination of Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet basics through a specially designed curriculum that is taught to a variety of music. Classes are 45 minutes in length and offer a parent observation class at the end of each session. Dress code is required. Exception to the age requirement is by permission of the teacher only.

Pointe: Pointe is offered to our intermediate to advanced ballet students and may only be taken by students who are technically and physically strong as deemed by the ballet teacher as it may be physically dangerous to those students not yet ready. This class uses classical ballet technique performed in pointe shoes.

Tap: These classes will focus on classical tap vocabulary, as well as rhythmic styles. The students will become familiar with tap terminology and will learn how to create rhythms through the sound of their tap shoes.
