Lyrical

Lisa grew up in Salt Lake and started dancing at the age of 5. She trained primarily in ballet, first at Utah Artists School of Ballet and then at Ballet West Academy under Artistic Directors Jonas Kåge and Adam Sklute. At Ballet West Academy, she had opportunities to perform in the Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and the Sleeping Beauty, as well as perform original choreography by Peter Christie and Jan Fugit. She also trained with American Ballet Theater at their summer program in Orange County. While ballet was her main focus, Lisa grew to love and appreciate other forms of dance, especially modern and lyrical/contemporary. At the University of Utah, Lisa spent a year as a Modern Dance major where she trained under many acclaimed Modern Dance instructors including Pamela Geber Handman, Abby Fiat, and Ellen Bromberg. She also had the opportunity to perform an original Martha Graham piece staged by her professional company. While she ended up pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in History, dance has always been a passion and a deeply important part of her life.

Lisa is excited to be returning to PDC after many years of living outside of Salt Lake. She taught at the studio from 2011-2013, and loved her time working with the students in Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, and Hip-Hop classes. (Many of those students are now all grown up and working at PDC, too!) When she is not teaching dance, she is teaching Art History at Juan Diego High School and being a proud Mama to her two children, Tom (3) and Quinn (7 months).
