Jazz
Marissa Ferm is from Buffalo, New York and trained at her mom’s dance studio, Spezio’s Dance Dynamics for 15 years. During her senior year of high school she was invited to become a Pre-Professional performer with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, where she was able to train and perform alongside the company at the Joyce Theater in New York City for their 25th year anniversary. After graduating from high school, Marissa attended Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, Texas where she graduated with honors, with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Dance Performance. During these four years she trained heavily in the Balanchine technique, the Graham technique, and numerous styles of jazz. She also performed works by Pascal Rioult, Matthew Neenan, Silas Farley, Michelle Gibson, Brandi Coleman, Pat Taylor, Christopher Dolder, and Mark Burrell. During breaks and intersessions from school Marissa went to train with numerous companies’ training programs including BODYTRAFFIC, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and PARA.MAR Dance Theater. After graduating college Marissa moved to Salt Lake City to join SALT 2 Contemporary Dance where she performed works by Nicole von Arx, Noelle Kayser, and Amy Gunter Lolofie. Marissa is still currently based in Salt Lake City, entering her second season dancing and performing for SALT 2 Contemporary Dance.
